One of the key components of successful network marketers is they seem to have a unique ability to understand their network marketing downlines. They continually find ways to learn as much about human behavior as they possibly can. They have a genuine interest in finding out what makes their people “tick.”

Although network marketing has changed extensively in the past 5 years, human nature hasn’t. People still make emotional purchases and justify with logic.

Your downline members came into the business because they wanted to accomplish, fix, or avoidsomething. That want is still present within them but over time it may have become buried by self-doubt and mistakes. Left unnoticed, it can cause some of your network marketing downlines (including those with high potential) to become frustrated with the business and quit.

In this article you’ll learn to spot the warning signs of disconnected network marketing downlines as well as how to motivate them back to action.

Signs of Disinterested Network Marketing Downlines

  • Two way communication begins to drop off
  • Consistent lead sponsoring begins to decrease
  • Group training attendance goes down

Any type of behavior that is inconsistent with what you’ve come to expect from a downline might be cause for concern.

What To Do

The first thing you want to do is reach out to your prospect. There’s no need to be confrontational. Instead, sincerely let them know you are concerned. Listen to what they have to say about why they haven’t been as active lately and validate any concerns or issues.

As naturally as you can, ask them to recall what it was that got them interested in making money from home in the network marketing industry in the first place. This forces them to think on an emotional level.

Every person has a principal emotional want that causes them to take action towards something better. If you can help them tap back into what motivated them in the first place, you’re on your way to re-igniting the passion that once was.

When you show someone that you sincerely care about them, it’s amazing what psychological effects it has on their performance. Their self-esteem goes up which causes them to naturally want to take action to better themselves even further.

Taking the time to reach out to your frustrated network marketing downlines can really pay off in their performance; which in turn, benefits you and your organization.

In no particular order , here are the 5 things you DON”T need to build a large profitable network marketing business.

1. Degrees and/or Credential

Thousands of people have been successful in networking without the benefit of college degrees and such. One of my personal most successful mentors is a high school dropout. Since networking is so unlike other businesses, the rules are different here. It’s quite possible, actually quite common, to build a large successful organization without having any credentials or degrees.

An argument could almost be made against having diplomas in this business, for people may feel that because their sponsor has an advanced business degree — they need one too. This is not duplicatable and entirely unnecessary. If you or your sponsor has a degree, great. It’s just not necessary for success in network marketing.

2. Others Peoples Approval

Of anyone, except yourself. Sometimes even your spouse may not approve of your network marketing business. This is actually a frequent initial response, but we’ve seen thousands of people who have built huge businesses without the help of their spouse. Of course, after that, the spouse usually comes on board enthusiastically and things really take off.

One of the hardest facts of business to face is that not everybody is ready for success, or is as enlightened as you.

Don’t be at all surprised to find that some of your closest friends and family members will ridicule you; not join your organization and/or even listen to a presentation; question your sanity; ask why someone with a “real” job would “mess around with one of those multi-level deals”; or all of the above. Then they will feel obligated to regale you with horror stories of people who “got a horrible rash just drinking that stuff,” or have “a garage full of that stuff they can’t get rid of.”

It’s best to give these “well-meaning” souls a wry smile, thank them for their input and get away from them as quickly as possible.

3. A Network Of Your Friends And Family

Now please don’t misunderstand; if you get them in your group, great! I know families with three generations in their networking business and it’s a beautiful thing to behold. Other times, the hardest presentation you ever give might be to a family member or best friend.

Sometimes you just can’t be a prophet in your own hometown. Direct selling is full of individuals who have built networks in the thousands without having a single member of their family, or so-called best friends, in their group. I know, because I’m one of them.

4. Negative Uninformed Advice

Oftentimes a new distributor will get involved with network marketing and get all kinds of well-meaning advice from friends who have never built a networking business.

If you want to know how to fly airplanes, you must get advice from an expert pilot. If you want to build a network, look at your sponsorship line and find someone who has already built a large network. Those are the people to seek out for advice.

5. Perfection

The perfect company, product line, or compensation plan hasn’t been invented yet. Like every- thing in nature, it must evolve. Your job is to look at the whole picture — and if the pluses outweigh the minuses — get started.

If you sit around waiting for perfection — you’ll be waiting forever. Don’t make the mistake many novices makewhich is to think that they can’t do anything until they have tried every single product, read every scrap of literature and completely understood every minute detail of the compensation plan.

The important thing is to get started and learn as you go. Having said that:

How many times have we read or heard marketers chatter about “building relationships“?  Most of the time they’re referring to the action of adding tons & tons of friends to various social network groups and blasting their wares to them on a consistent basis (and calling it) “relationship-building”.

But building true relationships is NOT about merely mass adding thousands & thousand’s of friends, followers & such, then hitting them from all angles with your “golden” opportunity.  Sadly this is PRECISELY what most people in network marketing do every day!

Listen up! One of the BEST pieces of advice I have ever received and that if you want to really succeed in our industry, you’ll heed to as well is this:

“If 97% of marketers are failing miserably (doing exactly what their upline tells them to) at having success in their business yet 97% of marketers are doing the exact same things, DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what they’re doing!”

So if the majority of those folks are using social media sites like Twitter and Facebook to do nothing (much) more than pitch, then you need to RUN, not walk, in the opposite direction and do what they’re NOT doing! Seriously, I open my Facebook inbox, and I have to sift through tons of solicitations from people I have never conversed with (I just delete them).

In order to really BUILD relationships with people on social sites, you have to find ways to connect and identify with them on a human level:

Give away value-based information, videos, etc. (even if they’re not YOURS!) Give these without any obligation or action they must take.

Send out inspiring quotes or motivational sayings. I use compelling music lyrics or bible verses.

Share things about yourself. Show your everyday, “I’m-not-JUST-a-salesperson/recruiter” side. Show them you are a real person (but do NOT overdo this)!

Actually take time to COMMUNICATE with them from time-to-time. For example, someone says “Going out to dinner for my birthday today” and you so happen to see that message, send them a b-day greeting!  If someone says they’re not feeling well, send a “Hope you’re feeling better soon!” message.  Interact when and where you can! (This is HUGE)

-In the offline world with your TRUE warm market, don’t expect to call up Tom whom you haven’t spoken with in the last 2 years and start spouting off about “the wonderful opportunity/products” you’ve just been introduced to!  Are you MAD?  He’s going to look at that phone like,”What the…?!?”

Instead, send Sally a “thinking of you” card and NOTHING MORE!

Or give Sally an “I was thinking about you & wanted to call and see how you’re doing” call and NOTHING MORE!

Then talk to her or email her a few more times and if Sally asks, “So what have you been up to these lately?” Then say something casual to see where it goes from there!  If the opportunity does not present itself, wait until another time. Remember, the idea is to NOT bug friends and family but either ask for referrals or simply leave them alone and seek after more qualified prospects who actually WANT to know more about your exciting opportunity.

Okay, here is the bottom line. Building relationships takes time and it takes a gentle, easy approach.  If you are coming from a state of desperation, then more than likely you will repel your target market instead of attract them.

But if you come from a state and a mindset of GENUINELY wanting to help others (un-selfishly) then your relationship building will go a much, MUCH longer and positive way!

How To Build Your Very Own Twitter Army!

Twitter is probably one of the most talked about ways of marketing online in recent history. People seem to either love it or have no idea what to do with it. The truth is that Twitter can be a powerful tool in your online marketing arsenal if you know how to use it correctly. By building up an army of passionate excited followers you can generate more sales and get the word out about your business much faster! In this article I’m going to give you some simple tips that will help you build your very own Twitter army!

1. Keep it casual and personal

If all of your tweets are about your business you’re going to have a very hard time keeping followers. That’s why you should only post 1 business related tweet to every 25 personal tweets. People don’t like to feel like their being sold on something so post too much about your business and your followers will drop like flies! People want to know more about you, what you’re doing, what you’re watching, what you’re thinking about. Keep it personal and only slip in an occasional tweet about your business or product and people will be excited to read everything you tweet!

2. Follow lots of people

If you follow lots of people chances are they will follow you right back. So if you’re new to Twitter and you’re trying to get a lot of followers just start following as many people as you can. As you become better known in the Twitterverse you can stop following some people and only follow the one’s you’re really interested in. Also, you want your followers to be people who would potentially be interested in your business or product so try to follow people like that.

3. Don’t send spam messages

Direct messages are a great way to talk to people without posting it on your Twitter home page. Many people send out direct messages to their newest followers. That’s a good thing to do. However, don’t send out a spammy first message to someone. A simple “thanks for following” can be really effective. Remember that you never have a second chance to make a first impression!

4. Have an interested background and profile picture

You have to make your page stand out so design a good looking custom background for your Twitter page. That will ensure that more people will remember you.

5. Create backlinks to your Twitter page

Ideally you want people to be able to organically find your Twitter page. So get your URL out there as much as possible. This will create backlinks and will make your Twitter page more recognizable in search engines.

If you follow these simple steps you’ll be able to build a strong Twitter army in no time!

This is a little trick that I’ve used to learn many aspects of Internet Marketing, but none so important as copywriting.  Find some of the most successful internet marketers in the world — people with a reputation — and get on their lists.

I used this when I started following people I consider to be great copywriters like Mike Dillard, David Schwind, and John Carlton. But don’t use my list — go on to any Internet Marketing or Network Marketing Forum and ask the question, “Who is the best copywriter in the business?”, and you will get probably 100 different answers.

The key is to pick 2 or 3 of the most often mentioned and follow them.  In this case, “follow the leader” is a very valuable tool of the trade.

Once you’ve done your research, google the gurus you’ve decided to follow, get on to their websites or blogs and opt in to become part of their list.  Then sit back, relax, and watch and learn.

  • notice how they provide value first, market second
  • watch them use psychological triggers like scarcity and social proof to nudge people to move forward towards their pre-selected outcome
  • observe the frequency of their emails, the length, the combination of various media (written work, video, audio).

You can learn so much by just becoming one of their “prospects”.  And when you’re ready to take your studies to the next level, you’ll already know which “gurus’ you want to choose as  mentors.

And all of the them will have products to purchase, no worries! :-)

Entering the Network Marketing business with a very common name can be a challenge, especially if you are Branding yourself in your website. What do you see when you type your name into Google? For the person that has a common name, you see millions of search results. So how do you get your name ranked on the first page of Google? There are 10 steps that you can take to improve your chances of ranking on the first page:

1. Set up your self-hosted Word Press blog, with your name in the title

2. Submit Articles to Ezine Articles Directory. This is a high traffic website that is ranked #149 most popular by Alexa. Make sure that you put your link to your blog inside the resource box in the bottom of your submitted article. Ezine usually takes about 5 business days to approve your article before it is posted.

3. Create a Facebook Account. Google indexes Facebook profiles very quickly. Once you have the account set-up, make sure you enter all the information in your personal profile section. This is a very important step.

4. Join Linkedin. This is another free social media community, Again make sure that you completely fill out the personal information page.

5. Write an E-Book. Include several links in your E-Book to your personal branded blog. Put your E-book for sale at at sites like Amazon, EBay, and Craigslist.

6. Open A Twitter Account using your name. If you have a common name I would suggest using your full name. Complete all the personal information section.

7. Post Feedback and Comments in High Traffic Websites. At then end of your comment always post your link to your blog.

8. Ensure That Your Blog Is SEO ( Search Engine Optimized). There is a great plug in for your blog called All in one SEO. Make sure that in each of your blog posts you are filling in all your keywords and post description into this plug in.

9.Use Google Ad word: Keyword Research tool . This is an awesome tool to research all your keywords

10. Change Up Your Outbound Links To Your Website. You do not want thousands of your links all pointing to your direct link to your blog. Google will think that you are trying to spam people and this will hurt your search rankings. You want to change up your links. Send the direct link to your blog posts: Example http://acemlm.com/nm/three-crazy-mistakes-most-people-make-on-social-media-sites/

I spend quite a bit of my time connecting with people on various social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Better Networker, etc, and I have noticed a few trends that I felt needed to be addressed.

Thank You For Being My Friend on Social Media… No Vomiting Please.

You see it all day long. It usually goes something like this…

“Hi, I’m Fred. Thanks for being my friend on (insert social media here), by the way… (vomit) take a look at my business.”

Is that how you would greet a new friend in person? Social media is an extension of real life. You are dealing with real people with real thoughts, dreams, goals, desires, and feelings.

No one likes being treated like that, and I’d wager that you don’t either. So simply don’t do it. A good rule of thumb is to treat everyone online the same way you’d treat them if you met them in person. (Unless it is your habit to vomit your business on anyone with a pulse in person as well.)

If You Lead With Your Business, You Will Be Forever Seen as a Follower.

Now we are ALL guilty of this at one time or another, and it is pretty high up there in the expected ‘newbie’ mistakes list. If someone is new to the industry, it is much more forgivable than say, someone who has been in Network Marketing for a time and yet is STILL leading with their company, logo and all, in their social media accounts. Which leads us into our next point…

People Join and Follow People, Not Companies

People do business with PEOPLE. People really do not care the slightest bit about your company, your products, or the ORAC value of your magical kumalumaquala berry extract that the ancient and remote Kwakaluga tribe on the island of Koodaagu has been using for thousands of years. Seriously. Despite what your upline may tell you, no one is going to join your company because of your product. They will join someone they perceive as a leader. Someone who can help them reach their goals, dreams, and aspirations.

So what does this mean for ME?

If you want quality people to join your ‘opportunity’, you must first be a leader and give them someone worth joining. This is not done by leading with your company, or vomiting your opportunity on everyone within reach.

What this means is invest in YOURSELF. Read things like Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring, for starters.

Attend webinars given by true leaders in the Network Marketing Community. Leaders never stop learning, and they are not afraid to take the time to engage in personal growth each day. Whether it is reading, or watching a recorded webinar, or listening to audio, ALL true leaders make the time for personal growth each day.

Talk to any 6 or 7 figure earner & ask them what personal growth book they are reading, and they’ll be able to answer you without hesitation, as they are ALWAYS reading something to stay on top.

newsletter-logoIf you put at least half-hearted effort into your MLM business, than you definitely had a chance to make a presentation about your company.

This of course means that you’ve met different types of objections.

And one of the objections is this: “What makes your company different? Why are you really better than the others?”

And this is a legitimate question. There are several hundreds (if not thousands) of network marketing companies around. So it’s not a big deal to find something similar to your opportunity.

So that’s absolutely natural that we face the question: “Hey! I’ve been at the XYZ presentation/webinar/site. They are just the same as your company. And the products are similar. So, why are you better?”

And you may say “Come on, Andrey. My company is Special. Unique.”

More over you may try to prove it to your prospect and present one solid evidence after another for 10-15 minutes or more.

I did this crap before. I tried to compare products of different mlm companies. I was showing with clear numbers that my compensation plan pays much more than any other. I flooded the prospect’s mind with quantity of partners and all the other meaningless stuff.

Prospects were nodding; they were saying “Wow. You have a great deal here, guys”! Then went on their away to continue comparing opportunities.

I realized that I was saying something deadly wrong. And I was looking for the right answer. The one that will demonstrate once and for all the uniqueness of my specific opportunity.

I found the answer as soon as my team members started to get results faster then those in other teams. Now it takes 17 seconds to answer this question.

I’m going to share this magic answer with you. So you’ll never be stunned by this question.

Here’s the correct answer: “My opportunity is different because of me and my team working in it. As we have a step-by-step business building system helping others to achieve their goals in this business, and we can teach how to use it.”

“And what about the product?” – you may ask.

Of course your product should be of high quality. So you’ll be able to look in the eyes of your customers without hesitation. But there is a whole universe of great products out there. While leaders who know what to do and how to teach – are hard to find.

If you don’t know how to build the business and how to attract prospects your product won’t help you.

One can become your partner not because of product. Or company. Or compensation plan. But because he believed that he’ll be able to reach his dreams with YOUR help.

So stop promoting your product and start promoting you and your system.

Sure enough if you want to use this argument, you should have a system. And should know how you are going to help your team to achieve the results and get their dreams.

Shift into A.C.T.I.O.N.

Those who have built large networks don’t just sit around waiting for it to happen. They also don’t make up excuses for why it’s not working – not enough time, no one is interested, don’t know enough people, not a salesperson, not the right kind of person, etc. No, the leaders leave the excuses behind and shift into A.C.T.I.O.N.

A = ATTITUDE

Achievers all seem to have a common “can do” attitude. There is no question in their mind that this is going to work. It’s just a matter of time and effort. They are positive and upbeat.

It’s often difficult to tell whether they are having a good or bad day, because their attitude is always the same. What’s your attitude like? This is the first step to shifting into action. Adjust your attitude and then move on.

C = Clarity

Achievers start with the end clearly in their mind. They have a clear vision of what their life is going to look like after all is said and done. They see their life in minute detail, with all the emotions included. When life is not going well for them, they just pull up their vision and revel in it until any negative feelings are gone. Do you have a clear vision of what your life is going to be like after you build a large and lucrative network? If not, then create your own vision.

It’s like making a movie in your mind. You’re the producer, director, editor, and the star of the show. You and only you decide what goes into your movie, so make it really good!

T = TIME

Once an achiever has a clear vision, they begin to use their time efficiently. Based on the vision, they set goals, objectives (steps to the goals), and daily activities. Then they figure out how to work these daily activities into their busy schedules by committing a certain amount of time each week. They know how to prioritize effectively. They are working on A priorities (prospecting, presentations, sponsoring, training, supporting) most of the time. They typically can accomplish twice as much in the same amount of time as the average person who is not a good time planner. How are you using your time? Have you committed a minimum amount of time to your business each week?

Are you working on A priorities most of the time? If not, you better become a better time planner.

I = INITIATIVE

Achievers don’t sit around wondering what to do or making excuses for why things can’t be done that day. They have a vision and a plan of action, so each day they know exactly what they are going to do and they do it. You won’t find achievers sleeping in.

They are typically up early reading and planning. They are constantly learning, so they can become better networkers. They attend seminars and all company functions. They get involved in Toastmasters, so they can become a better communicator. Are you up early each day, giving yourself extra hours to work your business or become a better networker? Do you know what you are going to do every day and get right to it, so you can gain the greatest benefit? If you want to be successful in network marketing or any type of business, you need to have a strong initiative.

O = ORGANIZE

Achievers are organized. They have systems for keeping track of information, prospects, and distributors. They don’t have to spend hours looking for something important, thus they can use that time to build their business. Do you have systems in place to keep track of important company memos, testimonials, training information, prospects, distributors, etc? If not, talk with an upline leader and have them help you develop those systems.

N = NAVIGATE

The waters tend to get rough at times. Achievers have their sights on a goal. Because they never take their eyes away, they can navigate through the rough waters. Because they have a great attitude and a clear vision, even the huge waves of diversity will not disuade them from their path. Because of their constant dedication to their trade, they know how to build an effective business. Are you properly prepared to navigate through the rough waters? If not, you better get prepared because they are just around the bend.

Many people say they want the time freedom and financial security that network marketing, but most aren’t willing to do what is necessary to make those dreams come true.
